Lunchbreak FAQs
Why is it called the LunchBreak?
Sally Hall started the e-newsletter by soliciting news and announcements from local GLBT people and organizations. Each day, during her (you guessed it) lunch break, she would compile the information and send it out via email. In 2004, before leaving the Center’s Board of Directors, Sally Hall entrusted the newsletter to Pikes Peak Gay & Lesbian Community Center with the understanding the newsletter would always remain “For the Community, By the Community”. In addition, many of our subscribers would find it more difficult to receive the newsletter at work if the newsletter were called something like “Big Gay News”.
Do you have a printed newsletter?
No. For many years, the Center published a community newspaper. In 2004, the Center did a Needs Assessment in which a significant majority of the community indicated the Center should save its resources by issuing the newsletter strictly online. You may, however, print a copy of the LunchBreak by clicking here.
